Wash the Car Rare Cars: Which Vehicles Count and How They Differ

In Wash the Car, 'rarer cars' means the range from rusty junkers to supercars. Here's how rare vehicles differ from ordinary cars at your wash line.

Wash the Car doesn't name its rare cars in a list — the developer describes them as a range: "rarer cars, from rusty junkers to supercars." In practice, the rarer vehicles are the noticeably better rides that arrive at your wash line, and they stand apart from ordinary cars in three ways: how they look when they pull in, how much they pay, and — for the non-car ones — where you wash them.

What "rarer cars" actually refers to

The official game description promises you can "Wash rarer cars, from rusty junkers to supercars," alongside helicopters, boats and planes. That phrasing is the game's own definition: rare covers the whole quality spread, from barely-running wrecks at the bottom to supercars at the top. The description does not list specific models, tiers or odds, and it teases one mystery vehicle ("Wash the %^REDACTED*$!") without revealing what it is.

The game also advertises rarer cars as discoveries while washing — "Discover rare & awesome cars" — not as a selectable list you can browse. You meet them as they roll up.

How rare cars differ from ordinary cars

  • They arrive looking the part. Early jobs can sit at the junker end of the range: in the one session we can check, a player's first car was a wreck with no usable tires, its originally white paint black with grime until a full scrub — and later arrivals in that run looked far better. The game publishes no fixed progression order, so read that as a sense of scale rather than a ladder.
  • They pay on a different scale. Every wash earns cash, but later vehicles can be worth enormously more — in that same run, a single wash of a late-game vehicle paid in the quadrillions.
  • Tips are about speed, not rarity. Some arrivals tip for fast work — the developer notes "Some cars leave a tip if you wash them fast!" and doesn't tie tips to rarity — so scrub quickly on every car. More on that in our how to get tips guide.
  • The highest-value vehicles get their own zones. Helicopters wash at the helipad, boats in their own later-unlocked zone, and planes at the airport — separate areas unlocked later in the tycoon, distinct from the ordinary car lines and built for much higher-value vehicles. See our progression guide for how those zones unlock.

What this means when you play

Since rarer cars are advertised as discoveries while washing rather than a browsable list, you recognize one when it pulls up: it looks like a much better vehicle than yesterday's junker, and it pays like one. Keep building the toolkit the game hands you — foam arches, brushes, water jets and dryers — scrub quickly on every arrival since some cars tip, and keep growing the tycoon toward the supercar end of the range and those special wash zones. The vehicles list catalogs what the game includes from the junker end to the supercar top, and the how to find rare cars guide explains where rarer vehicles fit into progression.
